At Seva Equitable, the spirit of giving reached new heights this holiday season as we came together to spread joy to our community. Thanks to our donors’ generosity and 501(c)(3) status, we secured vital contributions to make a significant impact. Our mission was clear this Christmas and New Year’s: serve over 500 clients in need, providing not just meals but moments of warmth and connection.
Our journey began with sourcing the finest ingredients, made possible by the support of our dedicated donors. From apple pies to rotisserie chickens and turkeys, we aimed to create festive and nutritious meals for those we serve. For the New Year Meal, we helped fund the return to black-eye peas with smoked turkey for our New Year meal, but we added cornbread to the menu! Cornbread is a popular southern add-on for the New Year meal with black-eye peas! We had apple pies and rotisserie chickens. With the added touch of volunteers, our warehouse-purchased potato salad received top-secret add-ons, turning a simple dish into something truly special.
The cooking process was a labor of love, where volunteers from our community dedicated their time and energy to prepare these hearty meals. The aroma of holiday spices filled the air as we cooked up a storm, ensuring every dish carried the season’s essence.
Our kitchen buzzed with excitement and anticipation on the days leading up to Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The big day arrived, and with the help of a wonderful team of volunteers, we served over 500 clients across both events. Laughter, smiles, and the joy of shared meals filled the room as our community came together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and welcome the New Year.
